When’s the Best Time to Take a Golf Vacation to Arizona?
The best time to go golfing in Arizona depends on your preference and budget. Let’s explore the options.
Peak Golf Season in Arizona:
Peak golf season in Arizona occurs between January and April. The weather is absolutely gorgeous during these months!
It’s called peak season for a reason. Rates are higher, and there are more people out and about, but you’ll enjoy some of the best weather and golfing in Arizona during these months!
“Shoulder Season”:
Shoulder Season is the period between an area’s peak season and offseason. This means that shoulder season for golfing in Arizona is generally considered October to December!
We wrote a piece last month on fall golf outings in Arizona that should be a helpful guide for those of you wanting to head out on a golfing trip during shoulder season. Fall is a great time to take a golf vacation in Arizona because prices are lower, and the weather is still really nice! Lows during shoulder season won’t generally dip below the 40s-50s. Throw on a jacket, and you’ll be ready for a day out on the course!
Off-Season
There’s no real off-season in Arizona because you can golf year-round! However, the least busy times that are considered off-season golfing in Arizona are during the summer and winter. Late April through July is a very hot time to play golf, but you can enjoy the luxury of having fewer people out on the course with you!
Many courses also close from mid-September through mid-October for a process called overseeding. Local courses transition from Bermudagrass to Ryegrass during this time. While fall can be an enjoyable time to tee up, you’ll want to check each course’s schedule to make sure they’re not overseeding when you want to head out on the course!
What’s the Best Time of Day to Go Golfing?
Again, it’s up to you what time of day you golf. There are advantages and disadvantages to golfing at different times throughout the day!
Typically, early birds experience fewer fellow golfers out on the course, so if you’re looking for some solitude, you may want to head out earlier in the morning. Crowds tend to pick up as the morning goes on, and then there’s another lull around midday.
Then, once temperatures are cooler in the later afternoon, many more golfers flock to the courses! Late afternoon is usually the busiest time at golf courses in Arizona.
What Other Activities Can I Explore in Arizona?
Believe it or not, there’s more to explore in Arizona than just golf! We have plenty of activities outlined on our website for you to explore during your time here in Arizona.
